Welcome people deliberately
Explain how to join, where to ask questions and what level of play to expect. Offer a friendly first session that does not depend on knowing existing members.
Make conduct visible
Publish simple behaviour rules and a confidential reporting route. Apply those rules consistently, including to established members and organisers.
Celebrate useful behaviour
Recognise good communication, fair play, reliability and helping newcomers. Community culture is shaped by what receives attention.
